About Us
Bungendore Rural is a family owned company commenced by Milton and Lois Simms in 1980. Initially specialising in plants and horticulture with a strong landscaping arm, the company focus is now on providing a professional one stop depot for farm and garden supplies.
Management
The business is owned and operated by Milton and Lois’ son Greg Simms, who commenced work with BRS in 1982 and has been pivotal in the diversification of the business in recent years.
Staff
Greg Simms - Managing Director
Greg’s hands-on style of management insures he is in touch with BRS customers and responsive to their concerns. His speciality is water supply and he is involved with the design and quoting of major projects. Away from work Greg is a Scout leader with the local Bungendore troop, and enjoys mucking about with boats.
Michael Fay - Sales Manager
Michael has been with the company for over 10 years and oversees the day-today management of the retail operations. Michael has a tremendous depth of knowledge of rural and hardware products and specialises in horticulture including viticulture and turf care. Michael plays an active role in supporting his son who is an Australian champion track cyclist, and enjoys renovating his house.
Matt Rombouts - Sales team member
Matt started with BRS in 2004 as a casual and is now a full time in our sales division. Matt has a broad range of knowledge across the entire spectrum of rural products and devotes tremendous energy to his role. Away from work, Matt tinkers with computers and small engines and likes fixing broken things.
Kaaren Darmody - Sales team member
Kaaren is our animal health specialist. Her primary role is to liase with the major farmers in the district, assisting them to develop animal health strategies. She is responsible for our animal health and feed ranges and has many years experience in horse care and nutrition. A farm girl from NT, Kaaren loves getting her hands dirty and plays polo crosse in her spare time.
Cindie Blackman - Office Manager
With over ten years at BRS, Cindie knows the admin side of the business inside out. Cindie is responsible for the smooth operation of business administration and inventory control. A real systems person, she has pretty well singlehandedly written the procedures manual for the business. Cindie devotes her free time to her family of boys.
Corinne Field - Accounts payable/receivable
Corinne’s primary role is processing supplier invoices and payments, as well as debtor management. The smooth operation of the office is largely due to her unflappable nature and quiet resolve to get the job done. Corinne lives on a small farm, is passionate about her horses and loves home renovation.
Dennis Gorham - Yardman/delivery driver
An experienced truck driver and plant operator, Dennis is charged with the upkeep of the yard and with all product deliveries, from small hardware items to truck loads of landscape supplies and bulk fertilizer. Dennis owns a small farm near Bungendore where he runs a few head of cattle.
Robert Sailer - Mechanic
Robert is a skilled small engine mechanic whose primary role is to maintain our customer’s farm equipment. From chainsaws, ride-on mowers and brushcutters, to pumps, quads and farm machinery Rob will tackle just about anything that comes through the door. Rob holds the coveted Master Technician qualification from Briggs & Stratton, and has completed factory training with Husqvarna Power Equipment and Onga Pumps.
Rob also maintains our fleet of vehicles and performs pre-delivery and after sales service on new equipment sold through our retail division. Rob built his own house on a small farm, which is powered by solar energy.
