PUMP FITTER Job Description

 Person with suitable trade experience to install and maintain pumping, irrigation and filtration systems in domestic, agricultural and commercial applications.

Duties:

• Installation and commissioning of pumping, filtration and irrigation systems, including pipework, control systems and sensors
• On-site and workshop repairs of domestic, rural and commercial pumping systems. Involves the diagnosis of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical components of the systems, in order to identify source of faults.
• Steel fabrication involving welding and oxy cutting
• Operation of trenching and light earth moving equipment.
• Maintenance and cleanliness of service vehicle, machinery and tools.
• Interaction with customers on site and over telephone.
• Preparation of job sheets and customer invoices as necessary.
• Other duties from time to time as required by management.

 

Technical Attributes:

 

A minimum requirement of this position is experience in the installation of water systems including pipe-work in various different materials. The candidate must have a track record of a high standard of workmanship backed up by at least 2 independent referees. The candidate will need to demonstrate a solid theoretical knowledge of hydraulics and a sound knowledge of both AC and DC electrical theory. Some experience with petrol and diesel engines would also be an advantage. The ability to diagnose the source of problems in pumping systems is an essential part of this position.

 

The successful candidate will be required to work unsupervised on a variety of sites and will need to account for their time and materials used on a daily basis by completing time sheets for each job undertaken.

 

All accounting systems are computerised and internal communications are via an intranet email system. The candidate should have experience with computers and be familiar with the operation of basic software like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
